Our new Sweeties are…..

Ali

Pat Frank

Kiki

Erika

Marie Therese

I thought it best just to blurt it out….couldn’t keep it in any longer…

Having deliberated, cogitated and digested for quite some time, I have added five more Sweeties to our little family!

Congratulations ladies….please email me and I shall send out your first assignments and further details!

There was no intention to add so many, but when I made the initial cut, these 5 stood out for me….and I think they will each add something new and very special to our team!

I would like to thank you all for making it such a hard decision…I truly appreciate the time and trouble you all put into your entries, there were some truly stunning cards.

I know there will be lots of disappointed people, and I am sure that there are no words which could ease the disappointment, other than the fact that you are all eligible for the prizes the challenge offers unlike The Sweeties!

I would hope to see more of your work in the challenges, and would actively encourage you all to enter any further ‘Sweetie Searches’ that we may have.

Sweetie Search…

We are looking for Sweetie team members for The Sugar Bowl...

Fancy the job???

You will need to be...

  1. A 'sugar addict', first and foremost...you will need to own several Sugar Nellie stamps, and love to use them!

  2. You should be an active blogger, be it brand new or more experienced…all are welcome.

  3. You should have enough time to create one project per fortnight, do your fair share of commenting on our sweet entries and perhaps draw the odd sketch for the challenge!

Still interested?

We would like you to make one new card or other craft project from you following the sketch, of course, it must include a Sugar Nellie stamp!

Project Of The Month - May

This will be the last 'Sugar Sugar' project as you currently know it, we will be having a break in June and may return renewed and revitalised in July if we can make the changes that we are hoping to.

Unfortunately we will not be choosing a winner of last months challenge, until a decision is made on the future of the challenges. We would, however, like to thank everyone who entered the Easter challenge and if the planned changes go ahead, we will select one of the entrants to join us as guest Sweetie.

Project of the Month - March

March - Cracked Glass Technique - By Judy

You will need, a stamped and coloured Sugar Nellie image, an inkpad suitable for embossing (such as Versamark) and Ultra Thick Clear Embossing Powder.

1.Stamp and colour image as usual.

2.Cover image with Versamark ink or equivalent, then cover with Ultra Thick Clear Embossing powder (normal clear embossing powder will work just as well)
3.Heat to melt. Add second coat of powder while still hot.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you have smooth coverage

4.Put in freezer until cold.
5.Crack image as desired! (Try doing it in different directions)
(Optional: daub dark brown ink into the cracks for a vintage look!)

Then, all you have to do is apply to a card or other craft project!

Please click on the photographs to be taken to The Sweeties own blog's for more pictures and details of how they created their projects.

Project Of The Month - February

February - Tag Card - By Tiets
Welcome to our second Sugar Sugar project, this lovely tag card was devised by Tiets, and we think you'll agree, they look very effective!
And really simple to do...
Step 1 -Cut a piece of cardstock measuring 12cm by 29.5cm
Step 2 - Fold it at the 13cm point.
Step 3 - Cut the corners from the back of the card, so it looks like a tag.
Step 4 - Cut a semi circle (3.8cm diameter) in the back of the card at 3cm from the top and 4.1cm from both sides.

This is the basis of the tag card and now you can decorate it as you wish!
Here's what The Sweeties did with their own 'Tag Cards'
'
Please click on the photographs to be taken to The Sweeties own blog's for more pictures (especially, the gorgeous inside views) and details of how they created their projects.

Project Of The Month - January

Welcome to the first Sugar Sugar, Project of The Month!

We're keeping it simple this month, to break you in gently...

January - Paper Beads by Marlene

Here's how...

Cut a strip of Design Paper approx 6" x 2/3" and cut both long sides from the middle to the end, to make a point

Then take a large needle or tooth pick and roll the paper along, starting from the widest [uncut] end.

before you reach the end, add some glue so it sticks to the bead when closed.. pull out the stick/needle and voila.. you got your own hand-made bead that is a perfect match to the papers you are using!

You can make different sizes of these too, or glaze them for longevity, to suit your own project.

These work great for all sorts of crafty projects, but also look stunning, attached to your cards.

Here's what The Sweeties did with their own 'Paper Beads'
